MCL - Fabrication Division Boosts Quality with New 3D Laser Scanner

MCL - Fabrication quality team adds capabilities with 3D laser scanner

The quality team at MCL – Fabrication is celebrating the addition of a ZEISS T-Scan Hawk 2 handheld 3D laser scanner to their toolbox, which will significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of their product quality checks.

This will give MCL – Fabrication the capability to ensure only extremely high-quality products are being shipped to our customers. With an accuracy of .020mm + 0.015mm/m the T-Scan Hawk 2 can calculate otherwise challenging measurements to determine conformance to drawing specifications, all with a simple scan. CAD model comparisons with heat mapping analysis will be a visual aid in investigating problem areas faster and more efficiently. The T-Scan Hawk 2 can also generate the compiled data into a thorough, easy to read inspection report.

This automation will save our team hours of manual measuring each week and reduce human error immensely. MCL – Fabrication will also now be able to handle Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), which we’ve had to outsource in the past. As the organization looks to the future, the T-Scan Hawk 2 opens opportunities to expand our machining and reverse engineering capabilities.
